FAQ:
Day in the Life of Our Campers

  • 🐾 What does a typical day at Wisdom of the Pack Day Camp look like?
At Wisdom of the Pack, no two days are exactly the same—but structure, intention, and calm leadership guide everything we do. Our day camp is designed to support reactive, sensitive, and high-energy dogs through relationship-based training and real-world experiences. Here’s a peek into a day in the life of a camper: Morning Drop-Off (9:00 AM) Dogs are greeted calmly and go directly into their individual crates. This helps regulate energy from the start and allows each dog to settle in. We set the tone for the day with meditation or intention-setting so we can show up fully for the dogs. First Training Rotation (9:30 AM – 12:00 PM) We begin working with dogs based on individual needs. Some may go on structured pack walks, while others rotate through long-line work, treadmill sessions, or one-on-one guidance on leash pressure and place work. Dogs not actively working are resting and observing from their crates—this builds impulse control and calm neutrality. Midday Nap + Reset (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM) All dogs rest in their crates during lunch, giving them time to decompress and process the morning's work. This deep rest is essential for nervous system regulation. Second Training Rotation (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM) We return to hands-on work with the pack, reinforcing calm behavior, building confidence through exposure, and supporting structured socialization for dogs ready to engage. This might include structured play, neutral pack walks, or dog-dog introductions with clear boundaries. Pick-Up Time (2:00 PM) Dogs are calmly released from their crates and returned to you in a more grounded, balanced state. You'll get a quick update on your pup’s day, progress, and any tips to carry through at home.
  • 🐾 Why do you use crates during the day?
Crates are a critical part of creating calm and structure. They give dogs a safe place to rest, reset, and observe without overstimulation. For reactive or anxious dogs especially, crate time allows their nervous systems to regulate so they’re more open to learning and connection.
  • 🐾What gear does my dog need to attend?
We keep it simple. Your dog just needs a flat collar with their name on it and a leash. Please make sure any ID tags are secure and the collar fits comfortably.
  • 🐾What is required for my dog to attend camp?
We require a minimum two-month commitment, with at least two days per week during the first month. This structure allows your dog to receive consistent information and start building a strong relationship with us. In addition, all new clients must complete our Relationship Building course, which lays the foundation for a successful training partnership.
  • 🐾What is the Relationship Building course that I’m required to take?
This course is your introduction to dog psychology and the core concepts your dog will be learning at camp. We believe training is a two-way conversation—and we’re here to support you in becoming a clear, confident leader. You'll gain tools to better communicate with your dog and help reinforce what they’re learning with us.
  • 🐾Do you offer early drop-off or late pick-up?
Yes! Once you're an active day camp client, you can add early drop-off (starting at 8am) or late pick-up (until 5pm) for a small additional fee.
  • 🐾How many dogs do you take each day?
We intentionally keep our group small—usually between 6–10 dogs per day. This allows us to give each dog multiple hands-on training sessions and create a calm, consistent environment where trust, neutrality, and confidence can grow.
  • 🐾 Do you work with reactive or fearful dogs?
Yes! Our structured dog daycare is specifically designed to support reactive, fear-based, and high-energy dogs. Through clear boundaries, calm leadership, and slow, thoughtful exposure, we help dogs build confidence and neutrality in a safe, supportive environment.
  • 🐾 Can I bring my dog for just one day or one week?
Our model is designed for monthly commitments only. We don’t offer drop-in or one-off days because the dogs we support—especially those who are reactive, fearful, or highly sensitive—need time, repetition, and stability to make real progress. Monthly consistency is how we build lasting results.
